For Georgia: We demand immediate investigation into violent attack on Gakharia orchestrated by Ivanishvili’s regime

The “For Georgia” party issued a statement on the attack on its leader, Giorgi Gakharia, and is demanding an immediate and thorough investigation.

“Today, Giorgi Gakharia, leader of the ‘For Georgia’ party and former Prime Minister of Georgia, was brutally attacked in a coordinated group assault orchestrated by Ivanishvili’s regime in Batumi.

“Giorgi Gakharia was in Batumi attending court proceedings for unjustly persecuted members of our party’s youth organization when this appalling act of violence occurred.

“The ‘For Georgia’ party demands an immediate and thorough investigation into this violent assault orchestrated by Ivanishvili’s regime and calls for all those responsible to be held fully accountable.

“This politically motivated attack is a blatant attempt to intimidate the opposition and suppress dissent. Such actions will never silence the voices fighting for Georgia’s democratic and Europen future,” reads the statement.

Opposition politician Giorgi Gakharia was attacked and physically assaulted in Batumi by Georgian Dream “deputy” Dito Samkharadze, along with his associates. The attack took place at the Sheraton Hotel. Gakharia was taken to the clinic with a fractured nasal bone and a concussion. He left the clinic of his own accord. An investigation has been launched under the article “Violence”.
