Actors and relatives gather near court to show support to 11 people arrested during protests

Actors and relatives have gathered in support of 11 people arrested during protests, including actor Andro Chichinadze and comedian Onise Tskhadadze, outside the Tbilisi City Court.

A trial has been scheduled in court, where the measure of pre-trial detention imposed on all the detainees will be reviewed.

The protesting actors say that the detainees are being held in prison unjustly, and so it is difficult to predict what decision the court will make on them.

During the protests near Parliament, actor Andro Chichinadze, comedian Onise Tskhadadze and 9 other people were arrested on charges of participating in group violence.

The detainees – Andro Chichinadze, Onise Tskhadadze, Jano Archaia, Ruslan Sivakov, Luka Jabua, Guram Mirtskhulava, Valeri Tetrashvili, Giorgi Terishvili, Irakli Kerashvili, Revaz Kinadze and Sergey Kukharchuk – were charged under Part 2 of Article 225 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which pertains to participation in group violence. The crime is punishable by 4 to 6 years of imprisonment.
