On December 25, Irakli Kobakhidze, the Prime Minister of Georgia, praised the “enduring spiritual leadership” of Ilia II, the Catholicos Patriarch of the Georgian Orthodox Church, during remarks commemorating the 47th anniversary of his enthronement.

“Our nation has been fortunate to navigate recent history, a period marked by profound changes and challenges, under the spiritual guidance of His Holiness, Ilia II, the Catholicos Patriarch of Georgia,” the Prime Minister stated in an official message.

He applauded the Patriarch for his “nearly half-century of steadfast commitment to the Church, the nation, and its people,” emphasizing his “wisdom, unwavering love for God, homeland, and humanity.”

The Prime Minister also recognized the Patriarch’s role as a “unifying figure,” noting, “His Holiness has served as an example for us, brought us together, and instilled in us a belief in a brighter future.”

In his congratulatory message, Kobakhidze extended his sincere wishes, stating, “I congratulate His Holiness on the 47th anniversary of his enthronement and wish him continued good health and longevity, for the benefit of our people and our country.”
