Four hours since the riot police started firing the water cannons at demonstrators on Tbilisi’s main avenue, in response to a bombardment of fireworks and other objects thrown at them, they have cleared the area around the parliament building from protesters.
The demonstrators, like the past three nights, have moved up Rustaveli Avenue, but remain on the scene, facing off the authorities.
Protesters have again build barricades out of street furniture- some of which belongs to the city, some belonging to private businesses on the Avenue. Fires have been set, leading to accusations from non-supporters that “they are no more than vandals.”
Swearing can be heard from both sides.
