Border police officers arrested 2 people for illegally crossing the state border of Georgia.

“As a result of the operative-search event conducted in the protective sections of the border sector “Sarpi” of Batumi Division, the border police officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs arrested two citizens of foreign countries for illegally crossing the state border of Georgia.

The crime is punishable by up to 5 years of imprisonment.

The investigation established that the defendants, bypassing the border checkpoint, illegally crossed the state border of Georgia from the Republic of Turkey to Georgia by hiding in different trucks.

“The investigation is being carried out under Article 344, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which means illegally crossing the state border of Georgia,” the report said.
