Majority MP: OSCE/ODIHR report is prepared by Saakashvili’s lawyer

The political affiliation is clear in this report, – one of the members of the majority, Nino Tsilosani, said when evaluating the OSCE/ODIHR report on the law “On transparency of foreign influence”.

Tsilosani noted that she thinks that during the meeting with the OSCE/ODIHR representative, they saw the need for the law on “Transparency of foreign influence”, although the official document has a completely different record.

“It is interesting that when we had a meeting with the OSCE/ODIHR representative, we talked about this topic, and I think that he and the entire group who came, very well saw the necessity of adopting this law. We see that completely different things are written in the official document, these other things were written only and only because there are specific interests. This is a report prepared by Mikheil Saakashvili’s lawyer, and there is no point in going into the content, the political affiliation is clear. Once again, thanks to FARA and the registry of agents operating in the US, we have a clear idea of all the lobbyist and politically motivated people and processes, which is also clear in this case,” Tsilosani said.

For information, the legal analysis by the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights states that Georgia’s law on transparency of foreign influence does not comply with democratic standards and human rights. The analysis also highlights important differences between the law adopted in Georgia and the laws in the US (FARA) and Australia, which are fundamentally different in purpose and scope.
