The Georgian government announced it is declaring May 17, 2024 a holiday in Georgia dedicated to the Day of Family Purity and Respect for Parents.
The holiday applies primarily to employees of administrative bodies as defined by the General Administrative Code of Georgia and the administrative bodies are allowed to identify specific services and employees to whom the holiday will not apply. Schools will also be closed.
The Prime Minister signed the resolution on May 15.
For most of the rest of the world, May 17 is dedicated to the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia.
