Prosecutor’s Office files charges against person detained for robbery attack on TBC Bank

The Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia filed charges against a person detained in connection with the robbery attack on TBC Bank.

The Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia says the agency will apply to the Tbilisi City Court with a motion to use pre-trial detention against the accused within the time limit established by law.

“The investigation being conducted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs established that on January 3, the accused, demonstrating an object similar to a pistol, attacked the employees of JSC TBC Bank located on Sulkhan Tsintsadze Street in Tbilisi and threatened to take their lives, demanding money, however, due to the activation of the alarm signal, the accused could not get the money and he fled from the scene.

“The detainee was charged with Article 179, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of Georgia (robbery, that is, an attack with the purpose of unlawfully taking possession of someone else’s movable property, committed with the threat of life-threatening violence), which is punishable by 5 to 7 years of imprisonment “, reads the statement released by the Prosecutor’s Office.
