“I will try to summarize the results of the 10th anniversary of the universal healthcare program very briefly. Before that, I would like to remind our society of the situation we faced when we came to power in 2012 and I would like to give you some comparative examples,” said the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Garibashvili.
He noted that the health budget in 2012 was minimal, almost 70 million GEL was spent on financing universal health programs, and added that it was impossible to finance the needs that citizens critically needed.
“Today, we have a radically changed situation. In 10 years, the state-financed programs are worth 7 billion GEL. With this, in fact, we made radical, revolutionary changes in this sector. For comparison, I would like to tell you that where only 40% of the population had the right to receive medical care (in 2012), today this figure has increased to 94%. 94% of our population benefits from the universal healthcare program, which is a great result,” Garibashvili noted.
