BBC: President of Sri Lanka Confirms Resignation

President of Sri Lanka Gotabaya Rajapaksa has confirmed his resignation.

Thousands of people are protesting the fact that the economic situation has gone from bad to worse in Sri Lanka. They broke into the residences of the president and prime minister on Saturday. They are still there.

The Speaker of the Parliament of Sri Lanka announced on Saturday that the President will resign on July 13.
