“We have not yet observed an increase in the hospitalization rate, which is a promising sign,” stated Tamar Gabunia, Georgia’s deputy health minister, regarding the epidemic situation in Georgia.
Gabunia noted Increased cases of coronavirus in Kakheti might be related to the vintage season. There may have been some social events and gatherings, she added, or the worsening epidemic situation in the country might be due to younger groups, a more active spread of the infection among students even more so that only a small proportion of them have been vaccinated.
“We have not yet observed an increase in the hospitalization rate, which is a promising sign. It might be the effect of a lack of vaccination because there is a small group of infected people who stay at home and have few symptoms.
“In this case, we cannot call this situation the fifth wave, because the fourth wave is not over yet. The number of cases was already high, this is a certain increase during the fourth wave,” Gabunia said.
