Two people have been arrested on charges of theft committed by a group acting by prior agreement, the Ministry of Internal Affairs said.
Employees of the Marneuli District Department of the Kvemo Kartli Police Department arrested the two suspects.
The investigation established that the suspects, who were traveling in their own vehicle, stole a cash-in terminal located outside a commercial facility in one of the villages of Marneuli Municipality and unlawfully took the money inside it. They abandoned the damaged cash-in terminal away from the scene and fled.
It was also established that, in an attempt to conceal the crime, one of the suspects stole a vehicle registration plate belonging to a fellow villager and attached it to his own vehicle.
Following operational measures and investigative activities, law enforcement officers arrested the suspects several hours after the incident. The stolen cash-in terminal and the vehicle registration plate were recovered as evidence.
The investigation is being conducted under Parts 2 and 3 of Article 177 of the Criminal Code, which carries a sentence of up to seven years in prison.
