Geostat – Georgia’s unemployment rate falls to 13.8% in the second quarter of 2026

Georgia’s unemployment rate fell by 0.5 percentage points year-on-year to 13.8% in the second quarter of 2026, the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat) reported.

The labor force participation rate decreased by 0.8 percentage points to 53.3%, while the employment rate fell by 0.4 percentage points to 46.0%.

The employment rate increased by 0.2 percentage points in urban areas to 46.7%, while it declined by 1.4 percentage points in rural areas to 45.0%. At the same time, unemployment fell by 1.7 percentage points in urban areas but increased by 1.3 percentage points in rural areas.

Unemployment remained higher among men than women, standing at 15.7% among men and 11.3% among women. Year-on-year, the unemployment rate decreased by 0.2 percentage points for men and by 0.9 percentage points for women.

The labor force participation rate was 66.3% among men and 42.2% among women. The share of employed people who were hired employees remained unchanged at 69.0%.
