JSC Microbank Crystal announced that Scope Ratings has affirmed the Bank’s issuer credit rating at B+ with a Stable Outlook, following its annual review of the institution.
In its report, Scope highlights Crystal’s successful transition to a licensed microbank, recognising the Bank’s leading position in Georgia’s microfinance sector, strengthened governance framework, resilient earnings, solid capitalisation and liquidity, and the growing contribution of customer deposits to a more diversified funding structure. The rating agency also notes confidence in Crystal’s growth strategy and identifies digital transformation, continued capital strength and funding diversification as key drivers for potential future positive rating action.
The affirmation follows Crystal’s first full year of operations as a licensed microbank and reflects the significant progress achieved in strengthening the institution’s governance, franchise and long-term strategic positioning.
“Over the past year, we have delivered a major organisational transformation while maintaining strong financial fundamentals and continuing to expand access to financial services across Georgia. We remain focused on executing our strategy, accelerating our digital transformation and further strengthening our funding profile to support sustainable long-term growth. The affirmation of our rating by Scope Ratings is an important independent recognition of Crystal’s successful transformation into a licensed microbank and the progress we have made in strengthening our governance, financial resilience and market position,” said Ilia Revia, Chief Executive Officer of JSC Microbank Crystal.
