Turkmenistan and Georgia have agreed to continue cooperation within the TRACECA transport corridor and work with other participating countries on related projects, Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedow said.

Speaking at a joint briefing with Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, Berdimuhamedow said negotiations were underway on the use of port infrastructure along the Caspian and Black Sea routes.

“Our countries participate in the TRACECA transport corridor, and we have agreed to continue working within these projects, both at the bilateral level and with other participating parties,” Berdimuhamedow said.

He highlighted the importance of transport projects connecting the Caspian and Black Sea regions, including the Lapis Lazuli Corridor and the Caspian-Black Sea Corridor, which involve countries such as Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Romania, Georgia and Turkmenistan.

The Turkmen president noted that cooperation between the two countries could also expand in areas including energy, telecommunications, industry, textiles, and construction.

Berd Berdimuhamedow said Georgia and Turkmenistan have maintained historical ties and expressed readiness to deepen cooperation in cultural, scientific, and educational fields.

The agreements reached during his visit to Georgia also include cooperation between universities and expanding contacts in the humanitarian sphere, he added.

The visit coincides with the anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Georgia and Turkmenistan. Berdimuhamedow congratulated Kobakhidze on the milestone and expressed hope that the talks would further strengthen bilateral relations.
