Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili has arrived in Iran, based on footage circulated by Iranian media. Kavelashvili was welcomed at Tehran’s airport by representatives of the Iranian authorities.

The Georgian president is set to attend the funeral ceremony of Iran’s former Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei.

A farewell ceremony for Khamenei is currently taking place at Tehran’s Mosalla Prayer Hall. Iranian media reports that the bodies of several of Khamenei’s deceased family members have also been brought to the prayer hall alongside his.

Foreign delegations, including representatives from India, Pakistan, and China, are also attending the ceremony. The funeral events are scheduled to continue until July 9, when Khamenei will be buried in the northeastern Iranian city of Mashhad.
