The Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze meets Columbia University Professor Jeffrey Sachs, who is currently visiting Georgia.
Photos of the meeting, posted on the Georgian government’s official Facebook page, show discussions focusing on “ongoing reforms in the country, Georgia’s investment and tourism potential, and progress achieved in various areas.” The post also notes “the government’s efforts to promote peace and stability in the region.”
The meeting was also attended by Georgia’s Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Mariam Kvrivishvili and the Head of the Government Administration Levan Zhorzholiani.
Sachs has been widely cited for comments on global politics and economics and has faced criticism from some Western analysts over remarks seen as aligning with Kremlin narratives on Russia’s war in Ukraine. His views are frequently referenced in both Russian state media outlets and pro-government media in Georgia.
