The Ministry of Energy of Azerbaijan stated that natural gas deliveries from Azerbaijan to Georgia increased by 14% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2026, reflecting broader growth in Azerbaijan’s export volumes.

During January–March, Georgia received approximately 800 million cubic meters of natural gas, showing its continued importance as both a consumer and transit country within the regional energy network.

Azerbaijan’s total natural gas production reached 12.6 billion cubic meters in the first quarter, unchanged compared to the same period in 2025. Despite stable output, exports rose by 8.3%, totaling 6.5 billion cubic meters.

Of this volume:

  • 3 billion cubic meters were exported to Europe
  • 2.4 billion cubic meters to Turkey
  • 0.3 billion cubic meters to Syria

At the same time, 1.5 billion cubic meters of gas were transported to Turkey via the Trans-Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP) during the reporting period.

The data highlights Georgia’s strategic role in regional energy flows, serving as both a transit corridor and a growing market for Azerbaijani gas, even as export routes diversify.
