“As far as I know, a trial should be held today. All are against the process being carried out remotely. The detainees are very upset because they were treated in a very inhuman, degrading, and ironic manner by the law enforcers,” said Dali Sulakvelidze, lawyer of the detainees in the village of Gumati.
Sulakvelidze, who represents the interests of 3 of the 8 detainees, demands that the administrative proceedings against the opponents of Namakhvani HPP be terminated.
“They were saying ‘let Varlam come now, pay the fines,.’ Who will help? Who will pay the fine? They don’t worry that they are detained today, but they worry about such treatment from the Georgian law enforcers,” she said.
As the lawyer reports, her clients have bodily injuries received during the detention process.
