International Museum Day is celebrated on May 18. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth of Georgia announced that on May 18-22, a number of events will be held online in the museums of Georgia within the framework of the International Museum Day Week.

International Museum Day was established on May 18, 1977, by the International Council of Museums, and has been celebrated for more than 40 years.

Museums are offering the public online exhibitions, virtual tours, educational programs, curators’ blogs, interesting stories about exhibits, videos, and more.

The theme for International Museum Day 2021 is “The Future of Museums: Restoration and Transformation.”

Within the framework of the International Museum Day, on May 22, with the initiative and support of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth of Georgia, an action “Night at the Museum” will be held in almost all museums of Georgia.

The events planned within the action will be held mainly in an online format.
