At the Tbilisi City Court, where the decision was announced on the case of persons accused of participating in group violence, the police have been mobilized.
Tbilisi City Court sentenced actor Andro Chichinadze, comedian Onise Tskhadadze and four other individuals charged with organizing group violence at Rustaveli Avenue protests to imprisonment, Judge Tamar Mchedlidze announced the verdict.
The charged individuals face from 4 to 6 years. The pre-trial sitting is scheduled for January 19.
The detainees’ lawyers say they will appeal the decision on preventive measures.
Actor Andro Chichinadze said in court: “I don’t have much to say. When the truth is on your side, then you have power and energy. This power and energy are here today.”
The judge’s decision was followed by the protest of the actors gathered at the court.
Law enforcement officers are currently mobilized on the stairs of the city court and around the perimeter.
The actors express their displeasure and say that there is no real court when innocent people are sent to prison.
“No to the violent regime”, “shame” – chant the actors.
