An earthquake occurred in Georgia. According to the Institute of Earth Sciences and the National Center for Seismic Monitoring, the epicenter of the earthquake was the village of Sameba, 26 km southwest of the city of Dmanisi.
The power of the underground tremors was 3.5 magnitude. There were no reports of casualties or injuries.
The village of Sameba in Dmanisi municipality has been in the public’s attention recently due to frequent earthquakes.
Seismologists say that in general, the Javakheti ridge is the most seismically active region, which means that most small earthquakes occur in Javakheti.
This is not surprising for experts, since Javakheti, in addition to tectonic activities, is also characterized by post-volcanic activities, which are manifested in earthquakes.
For the record, recently the earthquake occurred 9 km west of the town of Dedoplistskaro, near the village of Gamarjveba. Its magnitude was 4.7 (ML).
