Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Seimas of Lithuania, Žygimantas Pavilionis, has criticized the EU Ambassador to Georgia, Paweł Herczyński, for meeting with the Georgia Dream’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Maka Bochorishvili.
“Shame on you, Paweł Herczyński, you do not represent the European Union,” Pavillionis wrote on X.
The Ambassador of the European Union met with the Georgian Dream-appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs yesterday.
The ministry says that the conversation at the meeting held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs “touched on important aspects of the relations between Georgia and the European Union”.
In addition, the importance of the issue of integration into the European Union and the need for relations based on mutual respect with the European Union in this direction were emphasized for the Georgian authorities.
“Once again, he noted that Georgia is committed to fulfilling its obligations to the European Union and is ready to work to prepare the country for EU membership.
It was emphasized the need to solve the difficulties that have arisen in the relations in the recent period and to objectively assess the current processes.
On his part, the EU ambassador expressed concern about the current events in Georgia.
The Georgian side expressed concern that the political speculations related to the elections continue and the messages voiced by the European Parliament’s resolution contribute to creating an artificial crisis in the country, similar to 2020.
The need for dialogue on important issues between the parties was emphasized,” the information said.
Latvian MEP Rihards Kols also criticized the EU Ambassador for meeting with Georgian Dream’s Minister of Foreign Affairs.
“Condemn a stolen election in Georgia one day, shake hands with the regime the next. Ambassador Herczynski’s handshake isn’t just a gesture—it’s a lifeline to the Kremlin’s Georgian Dream. How many times will the EU lend its credibility to their propaganda? Unacceptable,” Kols wrote on social media.
