Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and US President Donald Trump have agreed to work together to enhance Ukraine’s air defense capabilities.
“We agreed to cooperate on strengthening the protection of our skies,” Zelensky stated, emphasizing the importance of air defense amid ongoing Russian aggression.
This discussion took place against the backdrop of Trump’s dissatisfaction with Vladimir Putin’s stance and the temporary halt of arms supplies to Ukraine from the US. Zelensky shared this information on his social media.
Zelensky claimed that the two leaders held a detailed conversation about the potential of Ukraine’s defense industry, including the prospect of joint production initiatives.
Additionally, joint weapons production was a topic of discussion. Zelensky emphasized that Ukraine is ready to cooperate with the US, especially in the field of drone manufacturing.
This marks a notable development in Ukraine’s efforts to deepen international defense partnerships and boost its domestic military production.
On July 3, Trump also spoke with Putin, during which he expressed his dissatisfaction with the Russian leader’s position on Ukraine, noting that no progress had been made in the negotiations.
Trump confirmed that the US continues to supply weapons to Ukraine but stressed the importance of maintaining their own stockpiles.
