With the general support of TBC and within the framework of the Georgia Tech Olympiads Hub, Georgia’s national team for the 2026 European Girls’ Olympiad in Informatics (EGOI) has been officially formed.
Representing Georgia on the international stage will be four schoolgirls: Gvantsa Khvedelidze, Lizi Pavliashvili, Natalia Papashvili, and Tako Shanava. The Olympiad will take place from May 12–18 in Cesenatico, where the Georgian team will compete alongside participants from more than 50 countries. Contestants will showcase their skills in advanced algorithmic problem-solving, programming, and analytical thinking.
The European Girls’ Olympiad in Informatics is a large-scale international competition aimed at increasing girls’ participation in informatics and technology while promoting gender equality across STEM fields.
“Participating in EGOI is a huge responsibility for me. On the one hand, I am very happy and proud to be part of the national team, but at the same time, I feel nervous because I am representing my country. I believe we will do our very best and achieve strong results,” said Gvantsa Khvedelidze, a 12th-grade student at Vladimir Komarov Tbilisi Physics and Mathematics Public School N199 and a two-time bronze medalist at EGOI in 2023 and 2025.
The Georgia Tech Olympiads Hub was established with the general support of TBC and is organized by Business and Technology University (BTU). The initiative focuses on identifying, developing, and preparing talented students for international tech and informatics competitions. Members of Georgia’s national team undergo international-standard training programs at BTU.
“One of the biggest challenges for me was overcoming existing stereotypes. Many people told me that programming was not for girls and that I would not succeed because of my gender. Despite this, I never stopped working, believing in my abilities, and preparing myself — and eventually, that effort brought results,” said Lizi Pavliashvili, a 9th-grade student at Vladimir Komarov Tbilisi Physics and Mathematics Public School N199 and a participant of EGOI 2025.
This year marks Georgia’s sixth participation in EGOI. Over the years, Georgian students have achieved significant success at the international level, earning a total of two gold, four silver, and three bronze medals.
Through initiatives like the Georgia Tech Olympiads Hub, TBC continues to support technological education and create new opportunities for the next generation — empowering young people to believe in their goals, ideas, and the transformative power of education.
