Georgia’s Minister of Health Ekaterine Tikaradze and the entire government have fulfilled all their obligations, however, COVAX has now started supplying vaccines. We are all working to get the vaccine in the country as soon as possible, – WHO Europe Director Hans Kluge stated at an online press conference in response to the question when Georgia would have the vaccine and what his message would be to the Georgian people.
“I saw different messages in the press. Georgia, as a country and as a government, has fulfilled all its obligations. The first global delivery has already started and we hope and are confident that it will happen in all regions in the coming weeks,” said Hans Kluge.
He noted that a telephone conversation was held between the Prime Minister of Georgia and the Director of the World Health Organization on this issue last week.
“We are still in communication with UNICEF and the Health Organization in Geneva to set a delivery date. So the message to the people is to follow public and social measures, and that their government, COVAX, and WHO are really working 24/7 to get the country vaccinated as quickly as possible,” he noted.
