On the 312th day of continuous protest, citizens once again gather on Rustaveli Avenue under the slogan: “What we need today is each other!”
Demonstrators are expected to arrive near the Parliament building at 19:00. From prison, political detainees and prisoners of conscience continue to express solidarity with the rally participants. Just yesterday, the number of jailed politicians increased by five.
Protesters say they have never feared Irakli Kobakhidze, do not fear him now, and will not fear him in the future.
Activist Luka Gogia told TV Pirveli that “the revolution lives in the hearts of the people and does not need anyone’s call to action.” He claimed that while yesterday may have been a political defeat, it was also a national victory:
“There was no official national assembly, but a true national gathering did take place. I haven’t seen so many Georgians united together in recent history. That is a victory in itself,” Gogia said.
He also criticized the authorities’ attempt to portray today’s protest as merely a continuation of yesterday’s events: “This is the first time they are openly trying to ban protest altogether, dressing it up as something else. But the idea they fear—revolution—is not out on the streets, it’s kept in our hearts. And no one needs to summon it,” he added.
