The Vice-Speaker, the Head of the Georgia-Ukraine Friendship Group, Archil Talakvadze welcomed the war-affected Ukrainian families and the Ukrainian MP, the Co-Chair of the Ukraine-Georgia Friendship Group, Ludmila Marchenko at Tbilisi Airport.
“With the aid and organization of the Georgian Parliament and Government, we host the Ukrainian families affected in the very first months of the war – these are the families with children now visiting Georgia for 10 days. They will get familiarized with our country, meet their peers, and visit the Parliament and we are aspired to demonstrate the solidarity our society and our country express to Ukraine. I believe, Ukraine will soon enjoy the peaceful and calm days,” he stated and thanked the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth Affairs of Georgia for supporting the project and assisting in the organization of the visit, he also thanked the Foreign Ministry and the Embassy of Georgia to Ukraine for their loyalty and devotion during the war period in Kyiv.
The Ukrainian families we host are from the occupied territories of Ukraine – Chernihiv region. For 10 days, they will meet their Georgian peers within the cultural-educational program, will visit the Parliament and participate in various activities.
As Ukrainian MP, L. Marchenko noted, Georgia offered the cognitive, entertainment and leisure wide-scale program for 29 children and their parents.
“These children studied in a school that was three times bombarded by Russians. The school has been completely destroyed, though the children remained in its cellar for almost 40 days – it was their shelter. Georgia offered a good program for their rehabilitation. The program includes exercises, education and other activities since these children get an education in Ukraine in a remote mode due to the occupation and military actions. We are grateful to our Georgian friends for their commitment to hosting these children and offering education and entertainment to them. We are hopeful for their rapid rehabilitation and satisfaction and these days they are to spend in Georgia will be of historical value and memorable to them. And when Ukraine wins, they will return to Georgia for leisure only,” she noted.
It is the second group of Ukrainian children hosted by Georgia. Their visit to Georgia has been jointly organized by the Parliament of Georgia and the Ministry of Culture.
