Davit Kirtadze, a member of the Unity-National Movement coalition threw ink at Giorgi Kalandarishvili, Chairman of the Georgian Election Commission (CEC) during the sitting where the CEC was set to endorse the summarizing report of the October 26 parliamentary elections results.
A verbal clash preceded the incident, after which the CEC chair switched off Kirtadze’s microphone. The sitting was interrupted for several minutes.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs launched an investigation under Article 118 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which refers to causing less serious body injury to health committed on purpose.
