The US has sanctioned Georgian officials and extremists for serious violations of human rights, says the US Treasury Department.
The Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control has imposed sanctions on two Georgian government officials and two private individuals in connection with the violent crackdown on peaceful demonstrators and political opponents.
The head of the Department of Special Tasks, Zviad Kharazishvili (“Khareba”) and his deputy Miller Lagazauri, the founder of “Alt-Info” Konstantine Morgoshia, and Zurab Makharadze were sanctioned by the US Treasury Department.
