The Embassy of the United States of America in Georgia issued a statement regarding the visit of Senator Jeanne Shaheen and Congressman Mike Turner.
As the embassy explains, “neither misinformation nor speculation can resolve disagreements.”
The embassy notes in its statement that during the last visit of Senator Jeanne Shaheen and Congressman Turner, President Saakashvili was not discussed.
“The topic of discussion was that the United States wants good relations with Georgia, and the first step to return to the road should be from the side of the Georgian government. We are waiting for their proposal”, the statement said.
For the record, the senators arrived in Georgia on August 9. They held meetings with the representatives of the Georgian Government, the opposition and the non-governmental sector.
