A US Air Force military transport aircraft, a Boeing C-17 Globemaster III, landed at Tbilisi International Airport on Wednesday before departing shortly afterward, based on the flight tracking data reported by Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty.
Citing Flightradar24, the aircraft arrived in Tbilisi at approximately 15:30 local time and departed at 16:03, heading south. The plane is known to have taken off from the US military airbase in Ramstein, Germany.
While the aircraft’s exact destination was not specified on Flightradar24, tracking data showed it had already crossed Armenian airspace and entered Turkish territory before eventually disappearing from radar.
The reason for the aircraft’s brief stop in Tbilisi remains unclear.
The Boeing C-17 Globemaster III is a large military transport aircraft operated by the US Air Force and is typically used for a wide range of missions, including the transport of troops, military equipment, and humanitarian aid.
