Up to 10 people were detained during a protest rally where citizens were protesting the increase in fuel prices.
The protesters blocked the road at Heroes’ Square and near “Laguna Vere.” Lasha Jokhadze, the head of the Tbilisi Patrol Police Main Division, called on them to open the road.
Today, March 27, protesters gathered at Republic Square, from where they marched in the direction of Parliament.
The organizers of the rally demand that the relevant competent persons meet and form an initiative group, otherwise they will announce permanent actions.
Demonstrators chanted “protest against the price of fuel”, “no to more expensive life”, “come out, come out.”
The two main demands of today’s rally were the abolition of excise tax on fuel and the transfer of the VAT to a floating regime, which, the protesters note, will reduce the price of fuel by 80-90 Tetri.
The organizers of the rally say a meeting of the advisory group with the Minister of Finance is scheduled for tomorrow.
