The UN Human Rights Committee calls on “Georgian Dream” to withdraw the draft law, which the ruling party withdrew from the parliament last year amid mass protests and vowed never to return, although it is now planning to pass it again.
“We call on the government to withdraw the draft law that labels civil society and media that receive more than 20% of their funding from abroad as ‘organizations acting in the interests of a foreign power.’ This poses a serious threat to freedom of expression,” the UN Human Rights Committee states.
