A senior US official told CBS News on Tuesday that Ukraine’s government has “agreed to a peace deal” brokered by the Trump administration, marking the most significant development yet in efforts to halt Russia’s nearly four-year invasion. The official claims that Kyiv has signaled its acceptance of a broad framework proposed by Washington, though the finer details of the agreement are still being negotiated.
Ukraine’s national security adviser, Rustem Umerov, confirmed that both sides had reached what he described as a “common understanding” on the emerging proposal. While he emphasized that specific terms remain under discussion, Umerov indicated that the outlines of the plan have been acknowledged by Kyiv and that diplomatic work is ongoing to finalize the arrangement. The statements from both US and Ukrainian officials suggest that talks have entered a decisive phase, raising hopes that a viable path toward ending one of Europe’s deadliest modern conflicts may soon take shape.
