UFC champion Ilia Topuria has expressed support to the protesters and writes that he opposes the decision to suspend integration into the European Union. He posted this opinion on Instagram, in which he writes: “My clear support for all those protesters who defend our rights. I oppose the decision to suspend our accession negotiations to the European Union.
“It is shameful to see how the children of Georgia are being treated. This is not called freedom. We want the best future for our country. It is necessary to continue our path towards European integration, because this is an opportunity for progress for all citizens. Together, we must fight for a democratic and free Georgia.”
- Mass demonstrations in Tbilisi and other cities of Georgia began on November 28, when Dream government announced that it would suspend the process of joining the European Union until 2028.
- After November 28, demonstrators have been spending the night on Rustaveli Avenue, they are being attacked by special forces, physically assaulting and detaining citizens, and firing water cannons and tear gas.
- From November 28 to December 1, the police arrested 200 protesters, and on November 30 alone, 44 citizens were taken to clinics from the rally.
