In the early hours of Tuesday morning, two special subsidized flights departed from Tbilisi International Airport, carrying Georgian fans to Riga to support the national basketball team in its historic EuroBasket 2025 quarterfinal against Finland.
The initiative was launched by the Georgian government with the support of United Airports of Georgia. Both flights, operated by Air Baltic, were fully booked, showing the high demand among supporters who wanted to witness the game.
United Airports of Georgia made sure that only fans who presented valid tickets for the EuroBasket match prior to departure were eligible to board the subsidized charter flights. Each flight was scheduled to align with the quarterfinal game which tips off at 18:00 Tbilisi time.
Staff from United Airports of Georgia oversaw ticket verification and passenger registration both in Tbilisi and Riga.
