US President Donald Trump has announced that he will meet Russian President Vladimir Putin on August 15 in the state of Alaska to discuss the future of the war in Ukraine.
In a post on social media, Trump described the meeting as a long-anticipated event between the two leaders:
“The long-awaited meeting between the President of the United States and the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, will take place next Friday, August 15, 2025, in the great state of Alaska. Additional details will be announced later. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”
The location of the summit had been the subject of speculation for weeks. International media had suggested Italy, particularly Rome, as a possible venue, while Russian outlets had named the United Arab Emirates as another contender.
