Trump declares US airstrikes “obliterated” Iran’s key nuclear facilities

US President Donald Trump has declared that recent American airstrikes have “completely and totally obliterated” key Iranian nuclear facilities, describing the operation as a “spectacular military success” during a press briefing at the White House. The strikes targeted Iran’s uranium enrichment sites at Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan in what has become the most direct and large-scale US military action against Iran’s nuclear infrastructure to date.

Trump said the decision to launch the strikes came after repeated failures in diplomatic efforts and followed a series of Israeli operations in Iran earlier this month. Emphasizing that the action was aimed at eliminating “the nuclear threat posed by the No. 1 state sponsor of terror,” Trump warned Tehran that “either peace or there will be tragedy” and did not rule out further military operations if necessary.

The Pentagon confirmed that the airstrikes were carried out using B-2 stealth bombers equipped with 30,000-pound bunker-buster bombs, in addition to Tomahawk cruise missiles. Satellite imagery released by independent defense analysts appears to show widespread destruction at the targeted facilities, particularly at Fordow, which is located deep underground. Iranian officials have acknowledged the attacks but claimed that no radiation leaks have occurred.

Iran’s government responded with fury, calling the strikes a violation of international law and warning of “everlasting consequences.” Iranian forces have since intensified missile attacks on Israeli targets, prompting a retaliatory response by Israel. The situation has raised fears of a broader regional war, with multiple flashpoints now active across the Middle East.

World leaders have expressed concern over the rapidly deteriorating situation. The UN Secretary-General called for immediate de-escalation, while EU and UK leaders urged Iran to return to negotiations. British Prime Minister Rachel Kensington issued a statement urging “calm heads and a renewed focus on diplomacy.”

Meanwhile, in Washington, the strikes have reignited debates over presidential war powers. Critics argue that the decision to launch such a large-scale attack without congressional approval sets a dangerous precedent. Trump’s supporters, however, have hailed the operation as a necessary and decisive move against a longstanding adversary.

The strategic and humanitarian implications of this operation are yet to be fully understood, but it is clear that US-Iran tensions have entered a new and highly volatile phase. With both sides vowing to defend their positions, the international community is bracing for what could become one of the most consequential confrontations in years.
