Georgia’s National Environmental Agency reported that all types of traffic have been temporarily suspended on a section of the Mtskheta–Stepantsminda–Larsi international highway due to a high risk of avalanches.
The restriction applies to the Gudauri (Post)–Kobi segment, between kilometers 93 and 107 of the highway, where the avalanche danger level has been assessed as high. As a result, movement on this stretch of road is fully prohibited until conditions improve.
The information was released by the Roads Department of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Georgia, mentioning data from the National Environmental Agency.
At the same time, the Roads Department clarified that traffic on the Mleta–Gudauri section of the highway will be allowed only under a non-stop transit regime, meaning vehicles may pass through the area without stopping.
