The Tbilisi City Hall has announced that traffic movement will be temporarily restricted in several central streets of Tbilisi on January 7 due to the traditional Alilo Christmas procession.

The procession will begin at First Republic Square at 14:00 and continue until approximately 16:00. During this time, vehicle movement will be limited along the procession route, with drivers required to use alternative streets.

From Merab Kostava Street, access to Giorgi Akhvlediani and Leo Kiacheli streets will be possible via Vashlovani and Ia Ekalaidze streets. Vehicles traveling from Revaz Tabukashvili Street toward Merab Kostava Street will be redirected through Rustaveli Avenue instead of First Republic Square.

Traffic from First Republic Square toward Freedom Square will be permitted through Giorgi Leonidze, Pavle Ingorokva, Alexander Chavchavadze, Griboedov, Nikoloz Baratashvili and Revaz Tabukashvili streets. From Petre Melikishvili Avenue, access to Mtatsminda-area streets will be available via Simon Janashia, Ivane Tarkhnishvili, Tamar Chovelidze, and Mikheil Zandukeli streets, followed by Vasil Barnov, Iakob Gogebashvili, Maro Makashvili, and the Kakabadze Brothers streets.

In the opposite direction, drivers will be able to reach Melikishvili Avenue and the area near Rustaveli metro station via Griboedov, Maro Makashvili, Vasil Barnov, Mikheil Zandukeli and Akaki Shanidze streets.

Vehicles traveling from the Rustaveli metro area toward Freedom Square will be allowed to move along Rustaveli Avenue up to the intersection with Giorgi Chanturia Street, after which traffic will be redirected through Chanturia Street and the right bank of the Mtkvari River.

From approximately 15:00, traffic at Freedom Square will be fully suspended for around 30 minutes. During this period, movement will be allowed only up to the ramp near Nikoloz Baratashvili Bridge and from Rustaveli Avenue toward Giorgi Chanturia Street. Traffic from Kote Abkhazi and Shalva Dadiani streets toward Freedom Square will also be restricted.

Following the temporary closure, the procession will continue from Freedom Square toward the Holy Trinity Cathedral (Sameba). As the procession advances, traffic restrictions will be introduced gradually on Nikoloz Baratashvili Bridge, the Baratashvili ascent and Avlabari Square.

When traffic is restricted on Baratashvili Street, vehicles heading toward Freedom Square will be redirected via the right bank of the Mtkvari River and Kote Abkhazi Street. Traffic toward Avlabari will be allowed through Dry Bridge, Costa Khetagurov Street and the left bank of the Mtkvari.

During restrictions at Avlabari Square, vehicles from Queen Ketevan Avenue will continue movement via Bochorma and Yalbuzi streets, as well as the left riverbank. Traffic in the opposite direction will be allowed via Baratashvili Bridge using the same routes.

Public transport routes will also be temporarily modified. During the procession from First Republic Square toward Rustaveli Avenue, buses will be redirected from Mikheil Javakhishvili Street to the right bank of the Mtkvari River, reconnecting to Baratashvili Street.
