Doctor Giorgi Kamkamidze alerted his social media followers about the alleged use of dangerous chemical agents during protests on Rustaveli Avenue, labeling it a violation of public health standards. The doctor says that substances mixed with water in high-pressure machines are classified as ‘chemical weapons’ under international regulations.
Kamkamidze listed possible short- and long-term effects of exposure to such agents:
- Immediate harm: blindness, respiratory failure, severe burns.
- Chronic issues: glaucoma, lung damage, or death in case of prolonged exposure.
“The Ministry of Health must disclose which particular agents are used. These include chemicals like chloroacetophenone (CN) and chlorobenzylidenemalononitrile (CS), among others. Health impact varies from individual to individual; what affects someone mildly can be fatal for another,” Kamkamidze stated through his social media.
