The president of Georgia, Salome Zurabishvili, held a meeting with opposition leaders at the Orbeliani Palace, pointing out the urgency of public’s sentiments in finalizing election results.
“Legitimacy is dictated from within, not by foreign influences. The first case scenario is the Georgian people declaring that the election outcome does not reflect their choice. The second is to announce that we are certain that half of the population supports the ruling party. If we follow the former, the elections will not be legitimized within the country and the people’s will be voiced internationally,” Gvaramia stated.
Gvaramia mentioned that the coalition does not officially favor the entrance into the parliament and advises against declaring individual positions that could contradict the viewpoint of the party as a whole. The coalition’s goal is to help Georgian people navigate through the aftermath of the elections.
