The Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development this week presented a summary report of the results of tourism and aviation in 2023 and held a presentation of the current year’s plans.
The event was opened with a speech by the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze.
The report and future plans were presented by Mariam Kvrivishvili, Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, who noted that last year was “stand out,” with very high figures for both industries, seeing the country receiving 4.1 billion USD in income from tourism.
2023 was particularly successful for the tourism industry in terms of the statistics of travelers’ visits, she noted, with the number exceeding seven million.
Last year also ended with significant results for the aviation industry, namely, 9 new airlines entered the Georgian market in 2023, and 21 added to their routes from Georgia, including 6 new European destinations.
