Tbilisi is soon to introduce a European Youth Card, a benefits and discount program already in use across Europe, for young people aged 18 to 30. The initiative, described by Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze as a ‘card of opportunities,’ will provide access to more than 25,000 discounts in 40 European countries.
“This card, already used by nearly nine million young people across Europe, aims to expand youth access to mobility, accommodation, education, culture, sports, and entertainment services,” Kaladze said during a recent city government session.
The Tbilisi City Hall holds exclusive licensing rights to the card in Georgia. In the scope of the project, a cooperation agreement has been signed with Bank of Georgia. As Kaladze stated, the collaboration will allow the program to become widely available across the country by fall 2025.
“Our goal is to ensure that as many young Georgians as possible benefit from this opportunity,” Kaladze pointed out. “This will be the first discount card in Georgia that’s not limited to students, it will be available to any young person under the age of 30.”
He added that local partnerships are already being established, and the list of Georgian discounts is expected to grow steadily: “Thousands of European discounts are already waiting for Georgian youth. Locally, the offers are expanding day by day.”
Distribution of the European Youth Card is scheduled to begin in Georgia this autumn, making it one of Tbilisi City Hall’s biggest initiatives targeted at youth to date.
