Kakha Kaladze, mayor of Tbilisi, announced that the renovations of the historical Sports Palace will commence soon. The venue, primarily used for cultural, social, and sports-related events, is in ‘unsatisfactory condition’ and requires considerable repairs. Planned renovative works include floor coverings, seating, walls, dressing rooms, and VIP areas. Special efforts will be made to preserve historically significant materials of the building, like natural stone cladding.
Kaladze also discussed plans to create recreational space around the Palace to enhance the accessibility of the nearby subway and add a parking spot. The goal of the project is to refresh the area and make the venue a multifaceted space for diverse events.
