Tasteit, the food-powered social network born in Georgia, is set to participate in the Startup Academy 5.0 acceleration program. The accelerator is a joint project by TRMNL4 and Meta, offering a unique opportunity for 30 selected startups – chosen from over 800 applicants – to work with legendary figures from global tech corporations and companies such as Meta, Spotify, AWS, Wix, Tinder, Headway, Genesis, and more.
The Tasteit team is among those selected to undergo intensive training with industry experts and mentors as part of Startup Academy 5.0. The program covers key areas such as building, scaling, and developing user-focused technology businesses. At the end of the accelerator, startup founders will have the chance to pitch to up to 60 VC funds and attract investors from around the world. Collectively, startups from the previous four Startup Academy cohorts have raised over $17 million.
“The TRMNL4 x Meta international acceleration program offers one of the most progressive environments for early-stage startups globally. The selection process included an application, pitch deck review, and interviews, where we shared our vision – Tasteit as an anti-dating app that connects people through food. Our team’s energy, vision, and unique concept were the main reasons we were selected. This marks another significant milestone in our journey, which began in Georgia—the homeland of wine and unique gastronomy—and is now heading toward a global scale,” said Giorgi Urushadze, Founder of Tasteit.
Tasteit is a social network that connects people based on their gastronomic preferences. It serves as an alternative to dating apps but, unlike them, creates a healthy virtual environment free from the stress, expectations, and awkwardness often associated with first meetings. Launched in Georgia two years ago, Tasteit has since expanded to the markets in Berlin and New York.
Tasteit first captured attention on Shark Tank Georgia, where it secured its initial investment while still at the idea stage. Since then, the team has participated in and won several prestigious grant programs, startup competitions and accelerators, including the Georgian Innovation and Technology Agency’s Matching Grants program, EBRC acceleration program, TBC Business Awards, WSA Global Award, and the Startup World Cup Regional, among others. This October, the Tasteit team will head to Silicon Valley, California, to present the startup to some of the world’s leading funds and investors.
