The next session of Georgian Parliament will see a bill being presented that aims to ban smoking in taxis and personal vehicles transporting minors.
If approved, a fine of 200 GEL will be imposed on taxi drivers for smoking inside their vehicles, while owners of private vehicles who are driving with children in the car will be fined 50 GEL.
Fines will be doubled for repeat offenders.
The bill was created by Dimitri Khundadze, the Chair of the Healthcare and Social Issues Committee of the Parliament, and his First Deputy Vladimer Kakhadze.
The bill serves as an update to the Law on Tobacco Control.
