Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov spoke to his Georgian counterpart Ilia Darchiashvili by phone regarding the tragedy that happened in the Shovi resort in the mountainous region of Racha, Interfax-Azerbaijan reports.
“Bayramov expressed his condolences to the families and friends of the deceased, and wished recovery to the injured.
The Minister expressed his hope that the missing persons will be found,” said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan.
Bayramov emphasized that Azerbaijan is always close to Georgia and is ready to provide all possible assistance in carrying out rescue operations and eliminating the consequences of natural disaster.
Darchiashvili thanked Bayramov for the solidarity and support.
The number of people who died as a result of the disaster in Shovi has increased to 11. Due to the tragedy, August 7 has been declared a day of mourning.
