Senator Risch: I’m Concerned about Steps Taken Backwards in Georgia

I am more and more concerned about the steps taken backwards in Georgia. More than 50 journalists have been beaten in recent weeks. One of them died as a result of injuries, – Jim Risch, a member of the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee, said at the committee meeting.

The senator also spoke about the appointment of Supreme Court judges, noting that this was contrary to the April 19 agreement.

“Several judges were appointed to the Supreme Court against the April 19 agreement. I know Senator Shaheen shares my concern in this regard, we have had a number of discussions about it. I hope we will work with the Georgian government to discuss these issues,” the Senator said.

The Foreign Affairs Committee hearing was held on July 20.
